The Wellsboro Middle School soccer team edged North Penn-Liberty 2-1 to win their season-opener on Wednesday, September 4.
Ian Hoose scored the game's opening goal on an assist by Caden Smith in the 18th minute of the game to put the Hornets up 1-0. Wellsboro later increased their lead in the 40th minute as Dillon Boyce scored unassisted.
North Penn-Liberty scored with 1.8 seconds left in the game to avoid the shutout.
Wellsboro won the B game 6-0 with goals from Miciah Fitch, Hunter Hamblin, Jack Bryant (assist by Alex Citrino), Owen Stevens, and Jack Bryant.
The win starts the Hornets off at 1-0 before they travel to Athens on Saturday, September 7.
