The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team traveled to Liberty to take on the Lady Mounties and came home with a 31-12 win on Friday, November 15.
The young Lady Hornets led 6-1 after the 1st quarter then built their lead to 14-4 at halftime. Wellsboro led 24-8 after the 3rd quarter.
Emily Morris had 13 points, 6 steals, and 3 assists, Maddy Mascho had 8 points, 1 rebound, 6 steals, and 7 assists, Paige Logsdon (9 rebounds) and Hannah Gilmour (2 rebounds, 1 steal) had 4 points each, Olivia Chilson added 2 points, 1 rebound, and 2 steals, Hannalee Cleveland grabbed 3 rebounds and had 1 steal, Emily Richardson added 2 rebounds and 2 assists, Emily Pierce added 1 rebound, while Chloe Brandenburg had 1 steal and 1 rebound.
"We had a solid team win," coach Darrell Morris said. "The girls really passed the ball well against their zone with 12 assists and we had a nice balance of inside and outside scoring."
In the B game Wellsboro won 22-4 behind 8 points from Pierce. Brandenburg added 6 points, Lexi Fillmore had 4 points, and Maddie Losinger and Paige Logsdon added 2 points each.
Wellsboro is back in action this morning as they host Athens.
