The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team knocked off previously undefeated Canton (4-0) in three straight sets on Tuesday, September 17.
The Lady Hornets edged out a 25-22 win in the opening set, won 25-17 in the second set, and closed out the match with a 25-13 win in the third set for the sweep.
Senior Caitlyn Callahan tied her career-high with 25 kills to lead the Lady Hornets. Junior Breighanna Kemp scored 27 points with 4 aces and had 26 assists, senior Ryann Adams made 24 digs and had 6 points (1 ace), sophomore Jordan Judlin had 8 assists, junior Shiloh Duff had 7 kills, 6 points, and 3 aces.
Junior Bailey Monks and sophomore Emma Owlett had 2 kills each, Monks also added 2 blocks, and senior Megan Starkweather made a block.
Wellsboro also won the JV game in two sets, 25-15 and 25-21, to improve their record to 5-1.
The win keeps the Varsity team undefeated at 6-0 (4-0 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action at Cowanesque Valley on Thursday, September 19.
