The Wellsboro Varsity Golf team opened Northern Tier League play with a 1st place finish at Shepard Hills on Tuesday, August 20.
"Today was a great start to the NTL season," head coach Steve Macensky said. "We had three or four personal best scores today. I could not be more happy for the team. We need to stay focused and try to keep improving on it and not relax."
Senior Ty Morral captured a 1st place finish with a round 75 with senior Joseph Propheta finishing in 2nd with a 78. Junior Brock Hamblin shot an 87, sophomore Dylan Abernathy carded a 94, senior Daniel Mitchell finished with a round of 99, and senior Ethan Blakley shot 100.
The Hornets shot a combined 334 as a team to beat rival North Penn-Mansfield (373), Cowanesque Valley (382), Sayre (408), Towanda (409), and Athens (442).
The win starts the Hornets out at 5-0 (5-0 NTL) on the season. The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 29 at Towanda.
