The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team swept the season series with Wyalusing after a 48-29 road win on Saturday, January 26.
The Hornets struggled for the first three quarters, committing 18 turnovers during that stretch (21 for the game), but came alive with a 20-point fourth quarter to seal their 14th straight victory.
Senior Brandyn Tuttle led the Hornets with 13 points and 7 rebounds on the afternoon while sophomore Joseph Grab senior Andrew Brelo were both in double figures, scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively. Senior Cam Tennis added 5 points, senior Holden Kennedy scored 3, and junior Karter Witmer and freshman Isaac Keane both added 2 points each.
Grab added 3 assists and 2 steals, senior Tanner Button pitched in 3 rebounds and 3 steals, Kennedy had 3 assists, Brelo finished with 4 rebounds and 3 assists, and senior Hunter Brown added 7 rebounds.
Ryan Armitage led Wyalusing with 9 points.
Wellsboro also won the JV game, edging the Rams 31-30. Trailing 30-29 with under 10 seconds left, Keane drove the lane and way fouled to go to the line to shoot two foul shots and sunk them both to give the Hornets the win and even their record up at 7-7.
The win improves the Varsity team's record to 14-2 and 11-0 in the NTL Large School Division standings. The team will be back on the court on Monday, Janaury 28 as they travel to Athens to face off against the Wildcats.
