Hornets score 2nd places finishes at Towanda

The Wellsboro Track teams each scored 2nd place finishes in a tri-meet with Towanda and Montgomery on Tuesday, April 30.

Towanda won the boys meet with 110 points, followed by Wellsboro with 64 and Montgomery with 10.5. Towanda took the girls meet by a narrow margin over Wellsboro (78-70.5) with the Lady Red Raiders finishing 3rd with 40.5 points.

For the boys sophomore Anthony Romania (8-ft, 6) was 2nd in the pole while junior Derrick Bolt (8-ft) tied for 3rd, senior Brett Rudy (11.4) won the 100m with junior Silas Wagaman (11.5) and senior Cam Tennis (11.6) in 3rd and 4th, junior Brennan Warner (18.4) was 3rd in the 110m hurdles and 2nd in the 300m hurdles (44.3), senior Bergen Weiner (5:23.3) was 4th in the 1600m, sophomore Aidan Fletcher (58.7) was 2nd in the 400m, Tennis (23.4) won the 200m, and sophomore Tylar Wright (13:01.1) was 2nd in the 3200m.

Senior Holden Kennedy (5-ft, 6) tied for 3rd in the high jump, junior Frank Kewitt (37-ft, 7) won the triple jump with Rudy (37-ft, 2) and Weiner (36-ft, 4.5) in 2nd and 3rd, and Rudy (18-ft, 11) was 2nd in the long jump.

Wellsboro won the 4x400m relay in 3:55.5 and finished 2nd in the 4x800m relay (10:07.9).

Senior Hunter Brown (114-ft, 2) was 2nd in the discus, finished 5th in the shot put (37-ft, 7.5), and won the javelin (141-ft, 4). Junior Alex Burrell (117-ft) finished 3rd and junior Karter Witmer (110-ft, 8) was 5th.

For the girls junior Lauren Singer (13.7) won the 100m, sophomore Kathryn Burnett (19.0) was 3rd in the 100m hurdles, senior Elizabeth Macias (2:59.6) was 3rd in the 800m, won the 1600m (6:30.1), and won the 3200m (14:17.9), senior Zoe Iseri (57.9) was 4th in the 300m hurdles, junior Savana Baltzley (1:09.2) and sophomore Alexis Banik (1:12.6) were 3rd and 4th in the 400m, and Singer (29.7) and freshman Hannah Morey (30.6) were 2nd and 3rd in the 200m.

Freshman Lilly Abadi (4-ft, 8) was 2nd in the high jump, senior Dahlia Hosey (34-ft, 3) won the triple jump with junior Caitlyn Callahan (31-ft, 6) in 3rd, and junior Megan Starkweather (14-ft, 9.5) won the long jump with Hosey (14-ft, 3) in 3rd.

Wellsboro was 3rd in the 4x400m relay (4:57.6), was 2nd in the 4x800m (12:23.8), and won the 4x100m relay (53.9).

Sophomore Sophia Kurtz (68-ft, 5) was 5th in the discus, junior Nina Coolidge (25-ft, 2) and senior Harmony Benner (24-ft, 10.5) were 5th and 6th in the shot put, and Singer (97-ft, 4) won the javelin with sophomore Alina Pietrzyk (79-ft, 6) in 2nd and Coolidge (76-ft, 7) in 4th.

The boys team is now 5-3 on the year while the girls are 4-4. Both teams will be back in action on Friday, May 3 at the Coudersport Invite.
