The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team swept Athens in NTL Large School Division action to improve to 7-0 on Thursday, September 20.
"The girls are starting to come together," head coach Sharon Zuchowski said. "We were strong at the net tonight."
The Lady Hornets cruised to an easy three-set victory, winning 25-16, 25-14, 25-14.
Junior Megan Starkweather had 11 points, 9 assists, and 8 kills; junior Caitlyn Callahan recorded 14 points, 6 blocks, and 4 digs; sophomore Bailey Monks had 8 blocks and 4 kills; and senior Heidi Zuchowski scored 13 points. Junior Ryann Adams recorded 7 digs, sophomore Breighanna Kemp had 5 assists, and sophomore Shiloh Duff had 3 kills.
In the JV game Athens handed Wellsboro a 2-1 loss (18-25, 26-24, 17-15). The loss was the young Lady Hornets' third in a row.
The Varsity team's win improves the Lady Hornets to 7-0 (6-0 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 22 on the road in Coudersport.
