The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team scored an 8-0 shutout against Northeast Bradford on Thursday, September 27.
Three Lady Hornets scored goals on the evening led by senior Emma Poirier and sophomore Kerrah Clymer, who both recorded hat tricks, and sophomore Jena Boyce.
Clymer opened up the scoring 5 minutes into the contest off an assist by junior Cathryn Brought, then Boyce struck 5 minutes later with an assist from Clymer. Two minutes later, with 28:05 on the clock, Poirier got involved with her first goal on an assist from Boyce.
Clymer and Poirier then took turns scoring the rest of the way. Clymer scored with 25:06 left in the half and Poirier scored with 14:09 remaining to give Wellsboro a 5-0 lead at halftime. Clymer then scored with 34:01 remaining in the second half to complete her hat trick. Poirier then scored back-to-back goals, one with 28:10 left and the final one with 19:48 remaining.
Clmyer and Boyce both had 2 assists each while Poirier, Brought, senior Elizabeth Macias, and freshman Hannah Morey added assists.
Wellsboro took 22 shots on the night and limited Northeast Bradford to just 6. Freshman keeper Lilly Abadi recorded 5 saves in goal for a clean sheet.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 6-3 (6-2 NTL). The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 29 as they host South Williamsport.
