Senior Tory Self was named the Towanda Daily Review's All-Region Offensive Player of the Year on Friday, March 30.
In her first year as a member of the Lady Hornets, Self set the Northern Tier League on fire as she scored 511 points to lead Wellsboro in nearly every statistical category. In addition to her offensive skills, Self grabbed 125 rebounds (3rd) and led Wellsboro with 138 assists and 137 steals. She also tallied six double-doubles and had a triple-double in the final game of her career.
Joining Self on the 2017-18 All-Region team are seniors Lizzie Poirier and Rachael Tuttle and junior Emma Poirier. The Poirier sisters were both second team selections and Tuttle was named to the Defensive team, after missing nearly half the season, but still finishing second on the team in rebounds (132), with a knee injury.
Emma Poirier was second on the team in scoring this season with 313 points, and sister Lizzie was right behind her with 310. Emma rounded out her junior season with 75 rebounds, 41 assists, and 51 steals, while Lizzie had 121 rebounds, 49 assists, and 56 steals.
WellsboroAthletics.com and WellsboroBasketball.com would like to congratulate Tory, Lizzie, Rachael, and Emma on their All-Region selections.
