The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams swept a pair of games on the road in Sayre on Wednesday, November 21.
The boys A team won 41-32 to erase a two-game losing streak.
"We played a complete game tonight," head coach Steve Adams said. "Our post play was the best it has been all year. We took the ball to the hoop as evident by getting 25 foul shot attempts."
The Hornets had a balanced scoring attack behind Peyton McClure's 13 points and Conner Adams' 11. Hayes Campbell scored 8 points and Cameron Brought pitched in with 7.
The B team also won 27-18. Tyler Youells and Declan Gile scored 8 points a piece to lead the Hornets.
In the girls game the Lady Hornets won 26-3. After building a 13-0 halftime lead the Lady Hornets outscored Sayre 13-3 in the final half for the win. Jordyn Abernathy had 6 points, 5 steals, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist; Maddie Mascho had 7 points, 6 steals, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists; and Rylie Boyce (5 steals) and Hailie Kerr (2 steals and 1 assist) had 4 points each.
Kambri Cleveland and Molly Ingerick added 2 points each. Ella Posada added 1 point. Emily Morris grabbed 2 rebounds and Alyssa Bisbing added 1 rebound.
"We had another great defensive effort and all the girls got involved for a solid team win," said head coach Darrell Morris.
The B team also won 22-6 to improve 3-1-1 on the year. Emily Pierce led the team with 8 points while Emily Richardson and Emily Morris had 6 and 4 points, respectively. Lily Covert and Brianna Wilson chipped in two points each.
The wins improve the boys team to 3-2 and the girls remained undefeated at 5-0. Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, September 27 on the road in Towanda.
