The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball team swept a doubleheader with Athens on Saturday, April 28.
In the first game the Hornets won 7-2. Tyler Fletcher went 2-for-3, Conner Adams was 1-for-2, Darryn Callahan and Peyton McClure were 1-for-1, and Ryan Sweet was 1-for-3. Isaac Keane (2), Fletcher (2), Adams, Dylan Abernathy, and McClure all scored runs. Fletcher went 4 and 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 runs (1 earned), and struck out 8.
Wellsboro took the second game 9-0. Adams was 3-for-3 and scored 2 runs while Cameron Brought and Fletcher both went 2-for-3. Keane, Abernathy, Sam Rudy, and Blake Hamblin also added hits. Adams (2), Keane, Callahan, Abernathy, Brody Morral, Fletcher, Noah Marks, and Rudy added runs.
The wins improve the Hornets' record to 6-0. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, May 1 at Towanda.
