The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams split a pair of games on the road in Troy on Wednesday, December 5.
In the boys game the Hornets rolled to their fifth straight win, 43-25. Wellsboro led 27-12 at half behind a 16-point second quarter, then continued to play solid at both ends of the court to secure the victory.
"We still have areas that we will need to get better in but all in all the boys are making a lot of progress," coach Steve Adams said. "They are starting to gain an understanding of the game at a faster pace. I'm proud of their effort."
Peyton McClure (13) and Will Kibler (12) were both in double-figures on the night to lead the team, while Conner Adams scored 8, Cameron Brought added 6, and Spencer Wetzel and Hayes Campbell both pitched in 2 point each.
The B team lost 21-17 with Caden Smith leading with 6 points.
In the girls game, the Lady Hornets' continued to struggle as they lost their fourth game in a row, 20-11. Maddie Mascho had 6 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals. Ella Posada (6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist) and Hailie Kerr (11 rebounds, 5 steals) added 2 points each.
Emily Pierce added 1 point and 1 rebound, Rylie Boyce had 2 rebounds, 6 steals, and 1 assist.
The B team also lost 16-6. Emily Morris had 4 points and Emily Pierce added 2 points.
Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, December 11 at home against Canton.
