The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams split a pair of games against North Penn-Liberty on Saturday, November 17.
The young Lady Hornets swept both games, winning 19-11 in the A game and 18-11 in the B game.
Rylie Boyce had 6 points, 4 steals, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist, Ella Posada had 4 points and 2 rebounds, Alyssa Bisbing had 3 points, Hailie Kerr (7 rebounds), Maddy Mascho (5 rebounds/5 steals), and Molly Ingerick had 2 points each. Kambri Cleveland had 2 rebounds and 2 steals, Emily Morris and Olivia Chilson added 1 rebound each.
"This is the first game, so far, that we didn't dominate the boards, but our girls played hard and are getting better every quarter," head coach Darrell Morris said.
In the B game Emily Morris had 4 points while Alyssa Trammell, Hannah Gilmour, Gillian Hernandez, Emily Pierce, Maddi Bordas, Olivia Chilson, and Hannalee Cleveland each added 2 points.
In the boys game the A team lost 43-33 and the B team won 24-14. Wellsboro trailed 14-11 after the first quarter and 29-19 at half. The Hornets cut the lead to 8 at the end of the third quarter but that was as close as they would get.
"We struggled to rebound and score today," head coach Steve Adams said. "We showed some flashes of good execution and need to build off that both offensively and defensively."
Conner Adams led Wellsboro with 14 and Peyton McClure scored 7. Tyler Youells 9 points in the B game.
Both teams host North Penn-Mansfield on Tuesday, November 20.
