The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams split a pair of games with North Penn-Mansfield on Tuesday, November 20.
In the girls game the young Lady Hornets beat Mansfield 36-2. Wellsboro had a 12-0 lead after the first quarter, lead 18-0 at halftime, and was up 28-2 after the third quarter.
"We had a solid team win in which all of our girls contributed," head coach Darrell Morris said. "It was nice to get a lead and be able to get some of our younger girls valuable experience."
Maddie Mascho had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals; Jordyn Abernathy had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists; Rylie Boyce had 6 points and 3 steals; Hailie Kerr had 3 points and 3 rebounds; and Kambri Cleveland has 2 points and 4 rebounds. Molly Ingerick, Emily Morris, and Emily Richardson added 2 points each, Maddie Bordas added 1 point, 1 rebound, and 1 assist, Ella Posada had 2 steals, 1 rebound, and 1 assist, Olivia Chilson and Emily Pierce grabbed 3 and 2 rebounds, respectively. Alyssa Bisbing had 1 rebound and 1 steal.
The B team tied 14-14 in an exciting game that saw them come back from being down 6 late. Emily Morris had 6 points, Olivia Chilson had 4 points, and Hannalee Cleveland and Lily Covert added 2 points each.
In the boys game the Hornets lost to Mansfield 38-21. Conner Adams scored 7 to lead the team while Will Kibler pitched in with 4.
In the B game the Hornets won 25-23 on a buzzer-beater by Caden Smith. Tyler Youells scored 10 to lead Wellsboro.
The girls are now 4-0 on the season while the boys fall to 2-2. Both teams will be back in action later this evening on the road in Sayre.
