The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team fell to North Penn-Liberty 23-22 in overtime on Thursday, December 20.
The loss drops the young Lady Hornets' record to 8-5 on the season.
Wellsboro led 4-0 after the first quarter, 8-4 at halftime, and 16-13 after the third quarter. Liberty then outscored Wellsboro 7-4 in the fourth to tie the game at 20-all at the end of regulation.
"It was tough loss for our girls, but a great experience for them," head coach Darrell Morris said. "We certainly had our chances and did a lot of things well, including getting a nice look at the buzzer in OT that almost went. They hit some long long threes and we left some points get away from the floor and the free throw line where we went 0/6."
Ella Posada (1 rebound, 7 steals) and Maddy Mascho (1 rebound, 3 steals, 3 assists) had 6 points each while Rylie Boyce (3 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists) and Hailie Kerr (8 rebounds, 3 steals) had 4 points each. Kambri Cleveland added 2 points and 4 rebounds, Jordyn Abernathy had 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists, and Molly Ingerick added 1 rebound.
The B team won 14-6. Olivia Chilson and Destiny DeBockler had 4 points each while Hannalee Cleveland, Emily Pierce, and Alyssa Trammell chipped in 2 points each.
Wellsboro is back in action for their final time of the season this Saturday, December 22 at North Penn-Mansfield.
