The Wellsboro Middle School Boys Basketball team won their third straight game on Thursday, November 29 in a 38-7 drubbing of Northeast Bradford.
The Hornets shutout NEB in the first half and held them to just two field goals after that.
"Our team defense has really been good the last 3 games," head coach Steve Adams said. "The boys are gaining confidence and are believing in themselves. We are playing good team basketball and we are improving with each game."
Cameron Brought led Wellsboro with 10 points followed by Peyton McClure's 8 and Conner Adams with 7.
Wellsboro's B team also won on the evening, beating NEB 30-17. Tyler Youells led all scorers with 14 points and Carter Knowlton pitched in with 8.
In the girls game the young Lady Hornets suffered a 22-8 loss, their second straight. Both teams were tied 4-4 after the first quarter, but a 9-2 run by NEB before halftime but Wellsboro 13-6. Wellsboro was then outscored 9-2 over the final two quarters.
"Our girls played hard again, but turnovers (27) and missed shots (3/28) really kept us out of the game," said Darrell Morris. "We continue to play great defense and just need to be more efficient shooting and protecting the basketball."
Rylie Boyce (6 steals, 2 rebounds), Ella Posada (2 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist), Maddie Mascho (2 rebounds, 2 steals), and Hailie Kerr (10 rebounds, 2 steals) each had 2 points.
The Lady Hornets also dropped the B game to NEB, 25-7. Emily Morris scored 7 points.
Both teams are back on the court on Monday, December 3 against Wyalusing.
