The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Jersey Shore on the road on Monday, October 1.
The loss was their second straight after losing 7-2 to South Williamsport on Saturday.
Shore got a pair of goals by Taylor Flemming, one in the first half with 8:13 remaining, and one in the second half with 12:46 left. Both goals were unassisted.
Wellsboro actually tied the game up with 27:19 on a corner kick by senior Emma Poirier and header from sophomore Kerrah Clymer. After Fleming scored her second goal of the game the Lady Hornets were unable to find the back of the nets.
Jersey Shore edged Wellsboro 11-9 in shot attempts on goal and both teams had 5 corner kicks. Shore's Hannah Kauffman made 4 saves on the night while freshman Lilly Abadi stopped 7 shots in goal.
Jersey Shore also won the JV game 2-0.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets' record to 6-5 (6-2 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 3 at home against Athens.
