The Wellsboro Track & Field teams took part in the opening night of the District IV Championhips at Williamsport Area High School on Thursday, May 17.
For the boys, junior Hunter Brown (152-ft, 11) was 12th in the javelin while sophomore Aidan Hauser tied 11 in the 100m semi-finals (11.65), 14th in the 200m semi-finals (23.7), and 16th in the long jump (19-ft, 0.5). Freshman Evan Hoover (19.73) was 23rd in the 110m hurdle prelims, sophomore Austin Richards (146-ft, 7) was 15th in the javelin, and senior Alex Kozuhowski tied 11 in the 100m semi-finals (11.65), was 12th in the 200m semi-finals (23.57), and 20th in the long jump (18-ft, 8.75).
For the girls, junior Dahlia Hosey (16-ft, 8.5) finished 3rd in the long jump, sophomore Megan Starkweather (14-ft, 10.5) was 18th in the long jump, and sophomore Caitlyn Callahan was 16th in the 100m semi-finals (13.64) and 11th in the long jump (15-ft, 4).
In the relays, the boys 4x800m team finished 15th in 9:05.53 while the girls finished 17th with a time of 11:29.38.
Both teams will be back in action for day two of competition on Saturday, May 19. Field events start at 11:30 a.m. and the track events will follow at noon.
