Junior Brandyn Tuttle shot a six over par 78 to take home a 1st place finish at the NTL's golf match at Corey Creek on Tuesday, September 5.
"Brandyn played great today," said head coach Steve Macensky. "Finishing first overall for the day is an awesome accomplishment. It has been a very good start to season for Brandyn and the team."
While Tuttle took 1st, the Hornets (343) finished 2nd as a team, 3 strokes behind Northern Tioga (340).
"It was a tale of nines for us," continued Macensky. "Everyone played a really good 9 holes but no one but together two good nines. On average there was a 6 shots difference between each nine. We just needed to stay more consistent throughout a round. The team needs to find a way to lower our team score by 6 to 10 shots."
Sayre (368) finished 3rd, Towanda (381) was 4th, North Penn-Mansfield (396) was 5th, and Athens rounded out the team totals with 396.
Junior Ben Barnett shot a round of 83 to finish 4th overall, junior Taynton Repard (88) was 7th, sophomore Ty Morral and freshman Brock Hamblin (94) tied for 13th, and sophomore Joseph Propheta (99) was 24th overall.
With their 2nd place finish, the Hornets (12-3) remain in 2nd place in the NTL behind Northern Tioga (15-0) and ahead of 3rd place Sayre (9-6). The Hornets will be back in action on Tuesday, September 12 as the NTL travels to Towanda Country Club.
