The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team edged AAA Central Mountain from District 6 at home on Monday, September 18.
The Lady Hornets won took the first set in the back and forth game 25-18. Central Mountain won the next two sets 25-16 and 25-23 before the Lady Hornets won the fourth 25-19 to force a fifth set. Wellsboro edged Central Mountain 15-13 in the final set to win the game.
Senior Brianne Keane led the team with 30 assists and 3 blocks, senior Cheyenne Sherman had 13 digs and 11 kills, sophomore Caitlyn Callahan had 8 kills, senior Jillian Graver had 6 kills and 9 points with 2 aces, and sophomore Megan Starkweather had 14 points, 2 aces, 6 kills, and 5 blocks.
Sophomore Ryann Adams also had 8 points and 13 digs in the win.
Wellsboro's JV team won 2-0 (25-15, 25-12) to also remain undefeated at 6-0 this season.
The Varsity team improves to 6-0 (4-0 NTL Large School Division). The team hosts rival North Penn-Liberty tonight.
