After dropping two of the last three games, the Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team got back in the win column with a 3-1 victory over Galeton on Monday, September 25.
The Lady Hornets dominated the first set winning 25-5 but rebounded to even the game at 1-1 by winning set two, 25-23. Wellsboro went on to win the third 25-18 and the fourth 25-15 to erase their two-game losing streak.
Sophomore Caitlyn Callahan scored 17 points, had 9 aces, and 10 kills to lead Wellsboro. Senior Jillian Graver scored 10 points and had 5 aces, senior Cheyenne Sherman had 8 digs and 7 kills, sophomore Ryann Adams made 14 digs, junior Heidi Zuchowski had 7 kills, sophomore Megan Starkweather had 2 blocks, and senior Brianne Keane recorded 27 assists.
Starkweather, Keane, and senior Hannah Burnett all scored 8 points and had 2 aces while serving.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0 to improve to 8-1 on the year. The win was also JV coach Michelle McNett's 100th career win.
The win improves the Varsity team's record to 7-2 (4-2 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action tonight at home against Troy.
