The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team scored a 6-1 non-league win in their season opener against South Williamsport on Saturday, September 2.
"I'm very happy with the win today. A great way to start the season," said head coach John Shaffer. "It was a great demonstration of our depth as we had 2 starters out today and everyone stepped up. We finally did that scoring 4 goals in 5 minutes in the second half."

It remained 2-1 in favor of Wellsboro until the 60th minute when the Hornets exploded for 4 goals. Senior Nolan Lohr started the scoing, then juniors Cam Tennis and Brett Rudy scored back-to-back goals on Leach assists. Lohr then scored the game's final goal at with 15 minutes remaining on a Rudy assist.
