Junior Ben Barnett finished 9th in the East Regional Championships at Golden Oaks Country Club on Monday, October 16.
The top 14 golfers made the cut to advance to the PIAA State Championships next Monday and Tuesday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center.
Barnett shot a round of 81, nine over par, and pared 10 of 18 holes in the cold and brutal winds. He finished six strokes back of 1st place finisher Grant Gronka (75) from Central Columbia.
"The winds played a huge factor today," commented Barnett.
"Ben played a very smart and solid round of golf in really tough weather conditions," said head coach Steve Macensky. "The cold and wind made scoring very difficult. He just found a way to keep from making the big mistake. All of his hard work all year paid off. We both would like to thank everyone for all their support as was evident with the signs overhanging Route 15 on our way down on Sunday."
