Nine members of the Wellsboro basketball teams were named to the Towanda Daily Review's All-Region basketball team.

For the boys, junior Dalton Prough was named Defensive Player of the Year. Prough led the Hornets in points (348), blocks (18), steals (67), and rebounds (172).

Junior Quinn Henry was named Sixth Man of the Year. After missing the first part of the season after rehabbing a footbal injury, Henry's presence off the bench helped lead the Hornets to a co-NTL championship, NTL Showdown title, and another appearance in District IV playoffs.

Joining Prough and Henry are seniors Jacob Singer and Brandon Lamphier and sophomore Brandyn Tuttle.

Singer, who was second on the team with 294 points and led the team with 65 three pointer's made, and Lamphier, 188 points and 90 assists, were both third team selections. Tuttle was named to the All-Rookie team after tallying 115 points, 127 rebounds, and 8 blocked shots.

For the girls, junior Lizzie Poirier was a first team selection, senior Janessa Davis was a third team pick, senior Autum Kitajima was named to the All-Defensive team, and junior Rachael Tuttle earned the rebounding award.

Poirier led the Lady Hornets with 336 points and shot and team-best 0.810 from the foul line. Davis was fourth in scoring (161) and led the team with 96 assists. Kitajima was second in assists (88), third in steals (55), and fourth in rebounds (75) while playing the opponents best offensive player on a nightly basis.

Tuttle was the area's leading rebounder in 2016, grabbing a team-high, and new Wellsboro girls basketball record 335 rebounds. Tuttle also set a new career rebounding record with 669 in just three years.
