Freshman Nate Redell was named the boys tennis All-Region Newcomer of the Year by the Towanda Daily Review on Thursday, July 7.
Redell, who started the year as the team's fourth singles player, had the team's best record at 7-6 and moved up to second singles by year's end.
Also earning All-Region honors was senior Tyler Kennedy. Kennedy, the team's first singles player, was a first team selection. Kennedy finished his senior year with a 4-8 record and a career record of 18-25.
"I am pleased that Tyler and Nate have been selected for the All-Region team," said Wellsboro head coach Margery Hoffman. "Tyler has been at the center of Wellsboro Boys Tennis for the last two years, playing at our #1 position and serving as team captain. It is an honor to have him identifed as one of the region's best. Nate Redell is a great choice for all-region newcomer of the year. He is working on improving his game over the summer and I expect great things out if him over the rest of his high school career."
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Nate and Tyler on their selections, and thank them for all their hard work and dedication during the year.
