The North Penn-Mansfield Tigers continued their strong season going as they beat the host Wellsboro Lady Hornets, 46-29 on Tuesday, January 5.
Wellsboro kept the game close with the 7th ranked Lady Tigers as they trailed 9-6 after the first, but the Lady Tigers turned up the heat and outscored Wellsboro 18-7 in the second quarter. The Lady Tigers hit four three-pointers in the quarter, two coming from Krissy Buchanan to take a 27-13 halftime lead.
North Penn-Mansfield outscored Wellsboro 19-16 in the second half to capture the 46-29 win. Ali Hillson led all scorers with a game-high 20 points.
Senior Sarah Ingerick and sophomore Lizzie Poirier each scored 10 points to lead the Lady Hornets on the night. Sophomore Rachael Tuttle scored five points, and senior Alexa Singer and freshman Julia Smith each chipped in with two.
Wellsboro won the JV game 39-27 to improve to 8-2 on the year. Freshman Emma Poirier scored a game-high 19 points and Smith added 14.
The loss drops the Varsity team to 7-3 (3-1 NTL Division 1) on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 7 as they host Athens.
