The Wellsboro Middle School Soccer team improved to 4-0 with a 6-0 win over Williamson on Wednesday, September 21.
The entire first half was scoreless, after halftime Will Poirier found Kaeden Mann in the middle of the field inside the 18 where Kaeden was swarmed by defenders he somehow got a shot off and found the right side net to make it 1-0.
The second goal was assisted by Owen Richardson. Wellsboro received a pass and shielded the ball while finding Will Poirier who launched a shot into the back of the net. The third goal was assisted by Kara Clymer who passed to Joseph Grab who pulled up and took a long shot that went to the upper 90. Richardson was in on another assist for the forth goal where Owen chipped it up to Kaeden who shot from the far right side and scored. The final goal was scored by Jon wetzel who scored on a free kick from outside the 18.
Clymer had 2 shots on goal, one goal, and one assist, Grab had two shots on goal and one goal, Aiden Magli had one shot on goal, Mann had 7 shots on goal and 2 goals, and Poirier had 3 shots on goal, one assist, and one goal. Richardson had 2 shots on goal and 2 assists, Zack Singer had 3 shots on goal and one went in but was called back, and Jon Wetzel had one shot on goal and one goal.
"Williamson proved to be a tough defensive team despite what the score says," said head coach Wes Wood. "They played a very defensive game and were very hard to score on till late in the second quarter. We had to adapt slightly and play more on the outside of the field."
In the B-team game, Wellsboro and Williamson tied at 1-1. The first goal came in the second half as Magli passed to Madelyn Rudy who scored amongst a cloak of defenders. Williamson scored in the last 2 minutes of the game on a break away goal.
Wellsboro will be back in action on Friday, September 23 against North Penn-Liberty.
