The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team improved to 6-0 on the year with a 28-13 win over Athens on Wednesday, February 17.
"Our girls did a lot of things well to beat a good Athens team," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We had a lot of turnovers and some mistakes, but we weren't able to get into the gym since Saturday, because of the weather. Overall, our girls did a great job and I am proud of our team."
The Lady Hornets led 11-6 after the first and 16-10 at the half before outscoring Athens 12-3 in the second half. Jaime Palmer had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Cathryn Brought had 13 points and 8 steals, Liza Manning had 1 point and 7 rebounds.
In the B game, the Lady Hornets lost 18-8. Jena Boyce had 5 points and Angela DeBockler had 3.
The girls will be back in action later this evening as they host Towanda.
