The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Williamson on Tuesday, October 11.
After a scoreless first half, Williamson's Kirsten Green scored early in the second half to make it 1-0. The Lady Hornets didn't trail for long as sophomore Emma Poirier scored with 33:33 left to tie the score at 1-1. Neither team could score the rest of the half, forcing overtime.
In the overtime period, Williamson's Kendra Shaefer gave the Lady Warriors the win with 3:49 left.
Wellsboro and Williamson both attempted 7 shots on goal and Wellsboro had a commanding 14-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Kailee Clymer made 5 saves in goal on the night for Wellsboro, while Keira McCormick had 6 saves for Williamson.
Wellsboro won the JV game 1-0 on a goal from sophomore Jessica McCarthy.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets' record to 5-10-1 (5-6-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Saturday, October 15 for a 10:00 a.m. game in Athens.
