The Wellsboro Middle School Boys Basketball team won their third straight game, after dropping three in a row, 33-30 over Northeast Bradford on Friday, February 26.
"I thought we played a great full game of basketball," said head coach Jason Greenfield. "I was a little nervous when I found out our starting guard was sent home from school with illness, but we stepped up and played great against a good NEB team. Hats off to our team on a great team win."
The two teams were tied 5-5 after the first quarter but Wellsboro outscored NEB 11-6 in the second to take a 16-11 lead at the half. NEB then turned the tables as they outscored Wellsboro 11-6 in the third to tie it back up at 22-22 going into the fourth. Wellsboro outscored NEB 11-8 in the final quarter to hang on for the win.
Joseph Grab was the only Hornet in double figures with 19 points, including hitting five three-pointers on the night. Ty Morral had 5 points, and Billy Lechler had 3. Daniel Mitchell, Alex Burrell, and Will Poirier each added 2 points each.
