The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team pounded out 17 hits in a 13-1 victory over Wyalusing on Monday, April 25.
The Hornets scored 3 runs in the first, second, and third innings and 4 in the fourth to claim the victory, while Wyalusing only managed a run in the fifth.
5 Hornets had multiple hits on the night, led by sophomore Caleb Tennis, who was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI's. Senior Dawson Prough was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, sophomore Dalton Prough was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored, senior Nick Tremper was 2-for-4 with a double, and senior Joe Allen was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Sophomores Brent English, Parker Mann, Nic Ingerick, and Johnny Rowland (double), seniors Larry Walters (triple) and James Mundy, and freshman Cam Tennis also added hits on the night.
Rowland started on the mound and pitched the first 3 innings for the win and Dalton Prough came on in relief for the final 2. Both pitchers combined for a one-hitter on the night.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 4-4. The team will be in action this afternoon against Towanda.
