The Wellsboro Golf Team ended the NTL regular season with a 2nd place finish at Tomasso's Country Club on Monday, October 3.
The Hornets scored a season-low 338 and finished a stroke off Northern Tioga's 337. Northern Tioga wrapped up the NTL championship with a 40-2 record, followed by Wellsboro at 36-6 (36-9 overall).
Athens (360) finished 3rd on their home course, followed by Towanda (369), Sayre (369), North Penn-Mansfield (370), and Northeast Bradford (376).
Sophomore Ben Barnett finished 2nd overall, to Sayre's Ryan Murrelle, with a round of 76, his best round all year. Sophomore Brandyn Tuttle finished 5th overall with an 81, sophomore Taynton Repard shot 88, freshman Joseph Propheta finished with 93, sophomore Chris Richardson carded 102, and freshman Ty Morral rounded out the scores with a 105.
"I'm very proud of the way the team played this year," head coach Steve Macensky said. "We were just a few shots away in the last thee matches of winning the NTL title. They all played great today. They shot some personal bests. I'm hoping to carry the good play into Districts on Thursday."
The Hornets will be back in action at the District IV Championships on Thursday, October 6.
