Head coach Todd Outman was recently named the All-Region Coach of the Year by the Towanda Daily Review.
2014 was a great year for Outman and the Hornets. In just his fifth year at the helm, Outman picked up his 100th career win, was a District IV runner up to Loyalsock for the second time in three years, and the team qualified for the PIAA State Playoffs for the second time in three years.
"It is an honor to be recognized as the Regional Coach of the Year, but an award such as this does not happen without the support from people behind the scenes," Outman said. "Along with having a team that believes in your philosophy and is willing to do what it takes to achieve established team goals.
"I was fortunate enough to have both of these components this year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the coaching staff; Charles Griscavage, Chase Kriner, Jason Greenfield and the basketball team."
Along with Coach Outman's honor, Seniors Kieron Smethers and Michael Pietropola and Junior Dawson Prough were also selected to the All-Region basketball team. Smethers was named as the Defensive Player of the Year and a first team selection. Pietropola was also a first team selection and Prough was a third team selection.
"I'm very honored to have been picked for an all region basketball team," said Prough. "My team and I have worked very diligently this season and I'm glad I can represent my school and community by being selected for an all-region team."
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Coach Outman, Kieron, Michael, and Dawson on their selections and would like to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to the program during the season.
