The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team won their fourth straight game as they beat Liberty 37-16 on Friday, March 27.
The Lady Hornets came out with pressure from the opening tip, and found themselves leading 17-6 after the first quarter and took our full-court press off. Wellsboro then dominated the rest of the game.
"We played well at Liberty tonight," said head coach Darrell Morris. "Everyone was involved on the offensive end and it was nice to get such balanced scoring."
Emma Poirier had 12 points, Julia Smith had 11 points, and Heidi Zuchowski had eight points and six rebounds. Karinthia Witmer added four points and five rebounds and Jaime Palmer had two points and five rebounds. Dani Hunt led the team with four assists and Cathryn Brought had three steals.
The B Team won 16-11 to improved to 4-3-1. Liza Manning had a game-high six points while Tiana Lecker, Luna Alexander, Grace Brueilly, Kayla Mengee, and Salesa Burns each added two points.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 15-4. The team will be back in action on Monday, March 30 as they host Cowanesque Valley.
