The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team won a lopsided game over Cowanesque Valley on Thursday, March 19.
The Lady Hornets led 20-1 at halftime so a lot of Wellsboro's younger players saw valuable minutes. Karinthia Witmer led the way with eight points in the game, Cathryn Brought scored five points, and Emma Poirier and Heidi Zuchowski scored four points each. Liza Manning, Lauren Singer, Caitlyn Callahan, and Jaime Palmer all scored two points each to round out the scoring.
"We played well at CV and really passed the ball effectively," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We missed some good looks, only going 14-for-44 from the field, but everyone contributed and it was a good team win."
In the B game, the Lady Hornets tied CV 8-8.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 13-4. The team will be back in action on Monday, March 23 as they host Mansfield.
