Two second half goals pushed the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team past Mansfield 3-1 on Tuesday, October 6.
Senior Brynn Ripley scored the game's first goal in the 33rd minute to make the score 1-0 Lady Hornets, but Mansfield tied the game four minutes later on an Emilie Harris goal. The Lady Hornets then scored two goals in the second half, and held Mansfield scoreless, to claim the victory.
Senior Lindsey Graver scored in the 54th minute to make it 2-1 Wellsboro before Ripley scored her second goal 10 minutes later. Graver and senior Julia Smith had assists on the night and sophomore Kailee Clymer made 7 saves in goal.
Wellsboro outshot Mansfield 26-10 and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
In the JV game, the Lady Hornets tied Mansfield 2-2 on goals by sophomore Linda Avery and junior Hope Wilkinson.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 6-4-1 (5-2-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Friday, October 10 as they host Williamson.
