The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team earned their sixth shutout of the year with a 7-0 win against Coudersport on Monday, October 5.
Senior Tucker Worthington scored the game's first goal with 38:08 remaining in the first half off an assist from sophomore Tanner Runyan to make it 1-0. Junior Jacob Singer then scored back-to-back goals on assists from Runyan and sophomore Gabe Leach to make it 3-0 with 29:13 remaining.
Junior Josiah Hill recorded his third hat trick on the year, with a goal at the end of the first half and the second with 33:44 remaining in the game. Both were unassisted. Runayn made the score 6-0 off a corner kick by Worthington with 22:11 left, then Hill scored his third goal of the game with 16:50 remaining off another Worthington corner kick.
Casey Hoover made six saves in goal for the win.
"Tonight was a good build up as the boys had moments of great play," said head coach John Shaffer. "When they got the ball on the ground and kept the ball moving they looked very good.
"This is a big week for the boys with Athens on Thursday," concluded Shaffer.
The win was Shaffer's 70th of his career.
The team improves to 11-0-1 (7-0-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 7 as they host Towanda.
