The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team continued their hot streak with a 4-1 victory against Sayre on Tuesday, September 15.
The Hornets scored all of their goals in the first half. Junior Josiah Hill got the party started at 28:40 as he converted an assist from senior Dawson Prough to put Wellsboro up 1-0. Wellsboro increased their lead to 2-0 six minutes later on goal by senior Tucker Worthington assisted by Hill.
Hill scored the third goal of the game, his second of the night, two minutes later on an assist from junior Jacob Singer. The Hornets' fourth goal came at 13:25 as Singer assisted sophomore Tanner Runyan.
Sayre eliminated the shut out as he snuck a goal past junior Casey Hoover with 13:52 on the clock in the second half. Hoover finished with three saves on the night.
"I'm very happy with how the boys played tonight," said head coach John Shaffer. "Sayre came in with low numbers and to their credit they made it difficult on us. We created some great opprotuinites in the first half and then the second half gave me a great chance to play reserves."
With the win, the Hornets improve to to 4-0 (3-0 NTL). The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 19 as they host Sullivan County.
