The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team picked up their first win of the season with a 2-0 shut out victory over Port Allegany on Saturday, September 12.
The first half of the game was scoreless but the Lady Hornets got on the board at on a goal by junior Kelsey Logan off an assist from freshman Julia Smith. Smith scored the game's second goal unassisted three minutes later to give Wellsboro the win.
Wellsboro had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks and out-shot Port Allegany 20-8. Sophomore Kailee Clymer recorded six saves in goal for the shut out.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 1-0-1 (0-0-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Monday, September 14 as they travel to Athens.
