The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team knocked off previously undefeated Northeast Bradford 3-0 on Wednesday, September 16 in Wellsboro.
NEB came into last night's game with a 4-0 record, but the Lady Hornets were unfazed. The girls wasted little time as senior Brynn Ripley score with 10:10 on the clock in the first half as she scored on an assist from freshman Julia Smith.
Senior Joey Taft increased the score to 2-0 with just under 20 minutes remaining in the game as she attacked the net and fired a shot that deflected off the arm of the NEB goalie and trickled into the net. The Lady Hornets scored their final goal with just under 10 minutes left in the game as Smith recorded her third assist of the game as she found senior Lindsey Graver.
Sophomore Kailee Clymer recorded 13 saves in goal for her second shut out of the season. Wellsboro also out-shot NEB 23-17.
In the JV game, the Lady Hornets lost 1-0 to fall to 1-2 on the year.
With the win, the Varsity team improves to 2-1-1 (1-1-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Monday, September 21 as they host Athens.
