The Wellsboro Middle School soccer team earned its first win of the 2014 season as they beat Northern Potter 4-2 on Tuesday, September 9.
Wellsboro shared the ball and attacked the goal consistently in the fist half which led to four first half goals. Brett Rudy recorded a hat trick and Emma Poirier scored her first goal of the year.
Northern Potter applied intense pressure in the second half which resulted in their two goals, but the Hornets were able to hang on for the win. Nate Redell recorded 10 saves in goal and Kaycee Hulslander recorded two.
"I was happy with the team effort this afternoon," said head coach Ed Hamm. "We are playing together, and continue to improve daily."
In the B team game, the Hornets lost 2-0.
With the win, the A team improves to 1-2. The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 13 as they host Liberty.
