The Wellsboro Middle School girls basketball team scored 32 first half points en route to a 36-2 victory over North Penn Tuesday night.
The team scored 16 in the first quarter and 16 in the second quarter before easing off in the second half for the win. Emma Poirier, Brianne Keane, and Rachael Tuttle had 8 points each. Katelyn Huck and Sydney Tremper added 4 points each, while Alyssa Yungwirth and Jillian Graver added 2 points each.
"We had a lot of fast break points early that were created by our defense, and we did a very good job of being unselfish and passing the ball to open teammates," said head coach Darrell Morris. "Our younger girls got a lot of valuable playing time in the second half and that should help us with depth down the stretch."
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 8-3. The team will be back in action today as they host Towanda.
