The Wellsboro Varsity girls basketball team picked up their third straight win as they defeated Towanda, 40-25 on Thursday, January 9.
The Lady Hornets held a 8-4 lead after the first quarter, and scored 13 points in the second and third quarters to pull away from the Lady Black Knights for the victory.
Sophomores Alexa Singer, Sarah Ingerick, and Jada Jackson each scored 8 points to lead the team. Junior Jordan Butters had 6 points, Sophomore Raisa Rogers scored 4, and Senior Brooke Kohler and Junior Peyton Wilson had 3 each.
Jackson grabbed 17 rebounds on the night, her fifth consecutive game in double-digits. Ingerick grabbed 6 rebounds, and Butters grabbed 5. Kohler had 4 steals and Senior Maggie Smith had 3 steals in the game.
In the J.V. game, the Lady Hornets won 28-22 to improve to 4-4. Freshman Jessica Grab led the team with 10 points.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 6-5 (1-0 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Saturday, January 11 as they travel to Athens.
