The Wellsboro Lady Hornets traveled to Mansfield Monday night in an earlier season make-up game, and came up empty handed as they lost to their Route 6 rivals, 48-40.
Mansfield jumped out to a 13-9 first quarter lead then pushed it 26-19 at the half. The Lady Hornets hung around in the second half, down just 10 points going into the fourth where they out scored Mansfield 15-13 but couldn't get over the hump.
Sophomore Sarah Ingerick led the Lady Hornets with 17 points while Senior Brooke Kohler had six points. Sophomore Alexa Singer and Junior Jordan Butters had five points a piece, Sophomore Jada Jackson scored four with Junior Peyton Wilson had three.
Jackson recorded her sixth game with double-digit rebounds as she grabbed 15 on the night.
In the J.V game, the Lady Hornets won 30-13 behind 10 points from Freshman Jessica Grab and 9 from Freshman Autum Kitajima. The win improves the J.V. team's record to 5-5.
With the loss, the Varsity team falls to 6-7 (1-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, January 14 as they travel to North Penn.
