The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team scored 22 first quarter points en route to a 67-27 victory over Canton on Wednesday, December 17.
The Lady Hornets took their 22-5 first quarter lead and extended it to 39-15 at the half. The team would score 20 points in the third quarter to increase their lead to 59-21 and would keep that advantage to claim their second straight victory.
Junior Jada Jackson recorded her second double-double of the season as she scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Junior Sarah Ingerick scored 14 points and had three assists. Senior Jordan Butters and Sophomore Autum Kitajima each scored six points, Sophomore Jessica Grab had five, Junior Alexa Singer and Freshman Lizzie Poirier had four points, Junior Raisa Rogers had three, and Senior Peyton Wilson and Freshman Rachael Tuttle had two points.
In the JV game, the Lady Hornets beat Canton 51-15 to improve to 3-1 on the year. Poirier and Freshman Alyssa Yungwirth each scored 10 points in the victory.
With the win, the Varsity team improves to 3-1. The team will be back in action on Friday, December 19 as they host Athens.
