Senior Kieron Smethers blocked five shots to put him at 101 for his career and scored eight points to push to Hornets past Sayre, 53-39 on Saturday, December 20.
The Hornets got off to a slow start as they led 9-3 after the first quarter and let Sayre outscore them 19-9 in the second to trail 22-18 at halftime. The Hornets would rebound, however, as they scored 14 points in the third quarter and exploded for 21 in the fourth to pull away for the win.
Senior Michael Pietropola was the team's leading scorer with 25 points, Senior Jake Mitchell had seven points, Junior Dawson Prough had four points, Freshman Dalton Prough had three, and Sophomores Brandon Lamphier, Jacob Singer, and Freshman Quinn Henry all added two points.
In the JV game, the Hornets won 38-32 behind Dalton Prough's 17 points to improve to 4-1.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 6-0 (1-0 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, December 30 as they travel to Lewisburg.
