The Wellsboro Varsity boys basketball team extended their win streak to three games as they defeated Wyalusing, 76-43 Monday night.
Wellsboro held a 16-12 lead after the first quarter but exploded for 20 points in the second to go up 36-23 at the half. The Hornets then scored 23 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth while holding the Rams to just 20 total points in the second half.
Senior Dylan Prough continued his dominate play as he led four Hornets in double figures with 18 points. Senior Joey Doganiero scored 17 points, Junior Michael Pietropola had 16, and Sophomore Dawson Prough contributed 13. Rouding out the scoring was Junior Kieron Smethers with 8, Junior Nick Marple with 2, and Freshman Brandon Lamphier and Junior Jake Mitchell each scored one point.
In the J.V. game the Hornets lost, 45-26. Lamphier led the team with 9 points and Freshman Alden Weiner had 8 points.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 15-5 (7-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, February 6 as they travel to Williamson.
