The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team had their five-game win streak snapped as Troy defeated them 3-0 on Tuesday, September 23.
Troy won 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 for the NTL Division 1 victory.
Junior Darci Warriner led the team with 10 points and 10 digs, Senior Peyton Wilson had 8 digs and 6 assists, and Sophomore Kirsten Florio had 9 kills, 3 blocks, and 6 digs.
Senior Paige Carr recorded 6 digs on the night, Senior Danielle Mihalik had 10 digs and 2 points, Junior Mikayla Feil had 4 points, 2 kills, and 4 blocks, and Sophomore Morgan Florio had 4 points, 3 kills, 4 blocks, and 10 assists.
In the JV game, the Hornets lost their first game of the year, 2-1 to bring their record to 6-1.
In Middle School action from Wednesday, September 24 the Hornets defeated Williamson 2-0 to improve to 5-1.
"We played a great first set of the A game," said head coach Jenn Outman. "The girls communicated well, moved to the ball, and had great serving. "The second set was a bit more challenging as we were down by several points immediately but after a timeout we regained our focus and bounced back for the win."
The Varsity team will be back in action on Thursday, September 25 as they host Athens while the Middle School team returns Saturday, September 27 as they host Northeast Bradford.
