The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team picked up an easy win over Canton on Tuesday, December 16.
The Hornets got off to a fast start and held a 28-6 lead after the first quarter. Senior Michael Pietropola continued his hot-streak as he scored 15 of his game-high 30 points in the first frame. Wellsboro would extend their lead to 48-20 at halftime and head coach Todd Outman started working in the younger guys in the second half.
The Hornets would score another 20 points in the third quarter to to seal the victory.
Senior Jake Mitchell was the only other Hornet in double figures on the night as he scored 11 points. Junior Dawson Prough finished with seven, Sophomore Brandon Lamphier, Freshman Dalton Prough, and Kieron Smethers had six points each, and Freshman Nic Ingerick finished with three points. Senior Brieux Thibaut, Freshman Quinn Henry, and Freshman Collin Pietropola all added two points to round out the scoring.
In the JV game, the Hornets won 48-17 to improve to 3-0. Henry was the leading scorer with 13 points and Dalton Prough had 12.
With the win, the Varsity team improves to 4-0. The team will be back in action on Thursday, December 18 as they travel to Athens.
