Girls track demolishes Troy, 137-11

The Wellsboro Varsity girls track team picked up their second win in as many days as they defeated Troy 137-11 on Thursday, April 3.

Junior Lauren Bleggi took home first place in the 100m run with a time of 13.5 and Sophomore Lindsey Graver was second in 13.8. Graver won the 200m in 29.3 followed by Sophomore Joey Taft at 30.5.

The Lady Hornets swept the 400m run as Graver (1:07.0) took first, Junior Caitlynn Butler (1:10) was second, and Junior Annie Sweeney (1:11.8) was third. In the 800m run, Sophomore Camryn Keane was first at 2:56.1, Butler was second (2:56.6), and Sophomore Samantha Bailey was third (2:59.1).

In the 1600m run Sophomore Jada Jackson took the top spot in 6:07.2 and was followed by Bailey (6:24.2) and Freshman Janessa Davis (6:35.8).

Sophomore Jordyn Coffee and Camryn Keane swept the 3200m run with times of 13:47 and 14:26.3, respectively.

In the 100m hurdles Sophomore Haley Zuchowski finished first in 17.8. Junior Elise Becker was second in 18.4 and Sophomore Emma Eccher was third in 19.3. Zuchowski was also first in the 300m hurdles in 56.9, Eccher was second (57.0), and Becker was third (57.2).

Wellsboro swept the the realys as Troy did not field a team.

Wellsboro swept the high jump as Sophomore Raisa Rogers and Senior Senior Kaelyn Keane tied for first at 4' 9" and Sophomore Mikayla Feil was third at 4' 7".

Freshman Melody Benner won the pole vault at 6' 6" and Taft was second at the same height.

Bleggi won the long jump at 14' 7.5", Kaelyn Keane was second at 14' 3", and Graver was third at 14' 3".

In the triple jump Jackson won at 34' 1", Kaelyn Keane was second at 28' 2", and Sophomore Maddy Kyle was third at 27' 5".

Senior Alex Kurtz won the shot put with a throw of 28' 7" followed by Jackson in second with a throw of 27' 10.75". In the discus Senior Katie Straniere was second at 83' 6" and Kaelyn Keane won the javelin with a throw of 97' 11".

With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 2-0 (2-0 NTL). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 8 as they travel to Towanda.
